Optimist Qualifier Tee Times

 

Players will be placed in the age division according to their age on or before:

  • July 18 for Boys 10-13 and Girls 10-12
    • Players who are 9 years old as of July 18 may "play up" in this division
  • July 23 for Boys 14-15 and Girls 13-14
  • July 28 for Boys 16-18 and Girls 15-18

2023 Optimist Yardages and Target Scores

About: The North Pensacola Pre-Qualifying Tournament will be played at Cypress Lakes on March 25, 2023. There will be divisions for boys and girls ages 10-18. Age group winners that also meet target scores (below) will then advance to the Optimist North Florida District Tournament, April 29, 2023, at Sunny Hills Golf Course, Chipley, Florida. Qualifiers there will advance to The Optimist International Junior Golf Championship Finals, in July, hosted by the Trump National Doral in Miami, Florida. The Optimist, recognized as perhaps the premier junior golf tournament of all, will attract over 600 junior golfers from nearly 30 countries.

REGISTRATION DEADLINE: March 21 Or Until all spots are full (45 spots available).
Tournament Details: Tee times will begin at 11:00 a.m. Older age divisions will tee off first, followed by younger divisions. Pizza & beverages for golfers following play. Tee times & pairings will be posted on this web page on March 23 by 5 pm CST.

Age Divisions: Boys: 10-11 and 12-13 (9 holes), Boys 14-15 and 16-18 (18 holes); Girls: 10-12 (9 holes), Girls 13-14 (9 holes), Girls 15-18 (18 holes). Registration: $25 for 18-hole divisions and $15 for 9-hole divisions. 

Winners & Target Scores: The first-place boys and girls who also meet the target scores will be sponsored by the Optimist Club of North Pensacola as they advance to the Optimist Qualifier at Sunny Hills Golf Course, April 29, 2023. The registration fees for those who qualify will be paid by the sponsor, The Optimist Club of North Pensacola. Target scores are Men 10-11 (47); Men 12-13 (44); Men 14-15 (82); Men 16-18 (77); Ladies 10-12 (48); Ladies 13-14 (46); Ladies 15-18 (84).

Tiebreaker Criteria: An on-course playoff will be used to break first-place ties. Scorecard playoff method will be used to break ties for second and beyond. The rules committee is responsible for determining the tie breaking method used.

Local Qualifier will not be considered official unless an age division completes a minimum of 9 holes. There will not be a make-up.

18-Hole Divisions: Stroke play, USGA rules in effect, one ball rule not in effect, range finders allowed. No caddies.
9-Hole Divisions: Modified rules, age appropriate tees. Caddies allowed to help with pace of play. No excessive coaching allowed!
