Description of the Summer Tour:
The Greater Pensacola Junior Golf Association (GPJGA) is excited to announce our finalized schedule and open registration for the 35th Annual Summer Tour! The Summer Tour is a five-week tournament series open to any junior golfers age 5–18 who are looking for tournament-playing experience. Players do not have to play all five weeks (they can play in only one if they want to), but must complete at least three tournaments to be eligible for end-of-tour awards. We will award the champions of each division (top five places plus ties)* at the 67th Annual Divot Derby Banquet on July 18 at Sanders Beach (Registration for the Derby will open in June). GPJGA Summer Tour winners will be extended an invitation to compete at the A. Downing Gray Cup at Pensacola Country Club, July 29&30. *There is NOT a division at the A. Downing Gray Cup for 9-hole players ages 14-18.
Qualifiers for the A. Downing Gray Cup include:
- Top 5 in 2024 Summer Tour Standings
- Top 3 from the 2024 Divot Derby
- 2023 Tom Dorsey Winter Classic Champions
- PCC junior golf members who have played in at least three of our chapter’s individual stroke play dating back to the previous Tom Dorsey Winter Classic
- All graduating seniors with multiple years of tournament participation AND have played in at least 1 individual stroke play tournament during their senior year
- Top 3 in the Gulf Coast Summer Slam standings after the Rocky Bayou Jr Classic
- Eligible junior golfers that are previous overall A. Downing Gray Champions (Applies to the 18 hole divisions only)

Description of our Two Divisions:
- The Future Masters Division: This division is for developing golfers ages 5–18. Ages 5–6 play six holes per tournament. Ages 7-18 play nine holes per tournament. (Players are placed in divisions based on their age on or before the final round of our season championship on July 30, 2024). Medals are awarded weekly for 1st–3rd place in each age division for boys and girls. One caddie is allowed in this division. However, "coaching" should take place at the warm-up areas--not during tournament play as it can negatively affect pace of play. Penalties will be assessed to a player if a player is not keeping up with their group and slowing down play, especially if this is happening due to excessive "coaching" by a caddie. The course yardages and some rules are modified in the Future Masters Division to allow for beginning/intermediate level golfers to have a positive introductory level competitive experience with appropriate pace of play. Age groups are as follows: Boys and Girls Ages 5-6, 7-9, 10-11, 12-13, 14-18.

- The Junior Masters Division: This division is for the more advanced junior golfer wanting to gain tournament experience for High School Golf or to potentially prepare for College Golf. There is not a minimum age (recommended for ages 14-18), but players must make a “Cut” to participate in this division. On the player’s first attempt, he/she must score a 54 or better on their front nine in order to proceed to the back nine. If they do not score a 54 or lower, they must end their round. They will be allowed to re-attempt the next week. If the player does not make the Cut within two attempts, the player will be placed in the 9-hole Future Masters Division (Opportunities to make the Cut are only offered on the 1st day of each tournament). In this division, no caddies are allowed and USGA Rules shall govern all play along with any Local Rules and Terms of Competition adopted by the Committee for the particular competition or course. Golfers play a two-day, 36-hole tournament. There may be multiple flights, depending on number of players. All ages play the same tees, under the same conditions of competition under USGA Rules. Junior Scoreboard: All 36-hole results are ranked and listed on Junior Golf Scoreboard: juniorgolfscoreboard.com (as long as there are at least five players in the division completing 36 holes). Weekly and end-of-tour awards are given in two age groups, 16-18 and 15 & Under (Players are placed in divisions based on their age on or before the final round of our season championship on July 30, 2024). *Graduating high school seniors who have turned 19 years old on or after January 1, 2024 are eligible to compete for the duration of the summer tour, provided they have not enrolled full time in college classes*
