Description of the Summer Tour:

The Greater Pensacola Junior Golf Association (GPJGA) has been operating the Summer Tour for more than 30 years! The Summer Tour is a five-week tournament series open to any junior golfers age 5–18 who are looking for tournament-playing experience. Players don’t have to play all five weeks (they can play in only one if they want to), but they need to complete at least three tournaments to be eligible for end-of-tour awards. We will award the champions of each division (top five places plus ties)* at a banquet on July 20. Champions will be extended an invitation to compete at the A. Downing Gray Cup at Pensacola Country Club, July 31- August 1. *There is NOT a division at the A. Downing Gray Cup for 9-hole players ages 14-18.

For questions about the Summer Tour, contact Tournament Director, Ty Aulger: [email protected]
DO NOT CALL THE OFFICE ON THE WEEKENDS! THE OFFICE IS CLOSED ON WEEKENDS! PLEASE EMAIL THE ADDRESS ABOVE. THANKS! For issues with tee times, email us ASAP or call the course the day of the tournament!

Players must register by the Wednesday prior to the tournament. Late fees will be assessed after Wednesdays and a spot cannot be guaranteed--openings after Wednesdays are on a space-available basis only. It will depend on if there are spots left in your requested age division.

Tee Times are available on this page on the Friday before the tournament by 5 pm. Tee times will be emailed to registered players and posted at the top of this page. Always double-check your tee time before you head to the course. Pairings and tee times are always subject to change. In the case of inclement weather, CALL THE GOLF COURSE FOR AN UPDATE! DO NOT CALL OUR OFFICE! WE ARE NOT THERE! WE ARE AT THE GOLF COURSE! Rain-outs will be rescheduled and played if possible, based on timing and course availability.

Description of our Two Divisions:

  1. The Future Masters Division: This division is for developing golfers ages 5–18. Ages 5–6 play six holes per tournament. Ages 7-18 play nine holes per tournament. (Players are placed in divisions based on their age on our before our season championship on August 2, 2022). Each player must participate in his or her own age group with exceptions to "play up" a division only with approval by the GPJGA Committee. Medals are awarded weekly for 1st3rd place in each age division for boys and girls. One caddie is allowed in this division. However, "coaching" should take place at the warm-up areas--not during tournament play as it can negatively affect pace of play. Penalties will be assessed to a player if a player is not keeping up with their group and slowing down play, especially if this is happening due to excessive "coaching" by a caddie. The course yardages and some rules are modified in the Future Masters Division to allow for beginning/intermediate level golfers to have a positive introductory level competitive experience with appropriate pace of play. Age groups are as follows: Boys and Girls Ages 5-6, 7-9, 10-11, 12-13, 14-18. Ages 5-11 play on Tuesday mornings. Ages 12-18 play on Monday mornings.
  2. The Junior Masters Division: This division is for the more advanced junior golfer. There is not a minimum age, but players must make a “Cut” to participate in this Division. On the player’s first attempt, he/she must score a 54 or better on their front nine in order to proceed to the back nine. If they do not score a 54 or lower, they must end their round. They will be allowed to re-attempt the next week. If the player does not make the Cut within two attempts, the player will be placed in the 9-hole Future Masters Division. 54 plays, 55 stays – No Exceptions. (Opportunities to make the Cut are only offered on Monday Tournament dates.) In this division, no caddies are allowed and USGA Rules shall govern all play along with any Local Rules and Terms of Competition adopted by the Committee for the particular competition or course. Golfers play a two-day, 36-hole tournament. For round one, all players are combined into one open flight (based on gender not age). Groups will re-pair for round two based on day-one results, with the lowest scoring players going out last. There may be several flights, depending on number of players. All ages play the same tees, under the same conditions of competition under USGA Rules. End-of-tour awards are given in two age groups: 16-18 and 15&Under. Approx. yardages for Boys: 6,000-6,500 yds/Girls: 5,000-5,500 yds. Trophies are awarded for 1st-3rd place after the final round each week. Junior Scoreboard: All 36-hole results are ranked and listed on Junior Golf Scoreboard: juniorgolfscoreboard.com (as long as there are at least five players in the division completing 36 holes).
