Background on Scholarship

The Joe and Tracey Durant GPJGA Scholarship Fund has been established by the Board of Directors of The Greater Pensacola Junior Golf Association and First Tee Gulf Coast to honor the legacy of two of our Chapter’s greatest supporters. Joe went on to play golf at Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Alabama, where he was a three-time NAIA All-American and won the NAIA Championship in 1987. He turned professional upon graduating and has won four events on the PGA TOUR and two on the PGA TOUR Champions; Tracey is an alumnus of the University of West Florida.

The Theresa Stanovich Memorial Scholarship Fund has been established to promote and encourage the attainment of higher education for a young lady or gentleman who would like to attend college or university and for whom financial need may pose a significant hurdle. This Scholarship was one of the final requests of Mrs. Theresa Jones Stanovich, a native Pensacolian, Tate High School Graduate and Gulf Power Retiree who never had the opportunity to attend college herself. The wife of PGA Professional Martin “Stan” Stanovich, a former golfer and long-time supporter of the golf community, Mrs. Stanovich was proud to know that in perpetuity, each year one alumnus of The Greater Pensacola Junior Golf Association and/or First Tee Gulf Coast would receive a scholarship in her name. This program is designed to award at least one scholarship annually with a minimum of $1000 or more based on donations received/monies raised.
