The First Tee – Gulf Coast Junior Coach Program is designed for participants ages 13 and up who are ready to take on a leadership role within our community. Junior Coaches help model and support the First Tee curriculum while working alongside our coaching staff to assist younger participants during classes.
By serving as Junior Coaches, participants strengthen leadership and teamwork skills, gain real-world experience, build their résumés, and earn community service and Leadership Service hours toward their Ace certification. Junior Coaches receive ongoing guidance, training, and support from First Tee staff throughout each session.
Junior Coach Qualifications
Junior Coaches must:
- Be 13 years or older
- Be a registered and active First Tee participant
- Have a recommended two years of participation with First Tee
- Have their own personal email address
- Enjoy working with younger children
- Demonstrate strong leadership and communication skills
- Have knowledge of the Five Key Commitments and Rules of Golf
Junior Coach Responsibilities
Junior Coaches support First Tee programs by:
- Engaging with participants through fun, educational golf activities
- Reinforcing and modeling the Five Key Commitments
- Assisting with supervision and maintaining a safe environment
- Communicating with parents, coaches, and staff
- Helping with events, fundraisers, and tournaments
- Supporting outreach efforts, including social media when appropriate
- Serving as ambassadors and youth leaders within the First Tee community
There is no minimum hourly commitment. A consistent weekly schedule is created each session based on availability. To remain eligible for local and national participant opportunities, Junior Coaches must remain in good standing within the program.
