Players will be placed in the age division according to their age on or before:

  • July 19 for Boys 10-13 and Girls 10-12
  • July 24 for Boys 14-15 and Girls 13-14
  • July 29 for Boys 16-18 and Girls 15-18

2026 Optimist Yardages and Target Scores

Due to the required target score for the winners to qualify and limited spots in the event, we ask that you please take each of those into consideration before registering for this event.

About: The North Pensacola Pre-Qualifying Tournament will be played at Cypress Lakes on April 4, 2026. There will be divisions for boys and girls ages 10-18. Age group winners that also meet target scores will then advance to the Optimist North Florida District Tournament, April 25, 2026, at Eagle Springs Golf and Recreation Center, Defuniak Springs, Florida. Qualifiers there will advance to The Optimist International Junior Golf Championship Finals, in July, hosted by the Trump National Doral in Miami, Florida. The Optimist, recognized as perhaps the premier junior golf tournament of all, will attract over 600 junior golfers from nearly 30 countries.

REGISTRATION DEADLINE: March 27 or Until all spots are full (30 spots available)
Tournament Details: Tee times will begin at 11:00 a.m. Older age divisions will tee off first, followed by younger divisions. Tee times & pairings will be posted on this web page on April 1 by 5 pm.

Age Divisions: Boys: 10-11 and 12-13 (9 holes), Boys 14-15 and 16-18 (18 holes); Girls: 10-12 and Girls 13-14 (9 holes), Girls 15-18 (18 holes). Please note: ALL age divisions will play 18 holes at the Optimist North Florida District Tournament on April 25. Registration: $30 for 18-hole divisions and $20 for 9-hole divisions. 

Winners & Target Scores: The first-place boys and girls who also meet the target scores will be sponsored by the Optimist Club of North Pensacola as they advance to the Optimist Regional Qualifier at Eagle Springs Golf Center, April 25, 2025. The registration fees for the Regional Qualifier for the division winners who meet the target score will be paid by The Optimist Club of North Pensacola. Target scores are Boys 10-11 (48); Boys 12-13 (45); Boys 14-15 (82); Boys 16-18 (77); Girls 10-12 (48); Girls 13-14 (46); Girls 15-18 (84).

Tiebreaker Criteria: An on-course playoff will be used to break first-place ties. Scorecard playoff method will be used to break ties for second and beyond. The rules committee is responsible for determining the tie breaking method used.

Local Qualifier will not be considered official unless an age division completes a minimum of 9 holes. There will not be a make-up.

18-Hole Divisions: Stroke play, USGA rules in effect, range finders allowed. No caddies.
9-Hole Divisions: Modified rules, age appropriate tees. Caddies allowed to help with pace of play. No excessive coaching allowed! Caddies will not be allowed in the Regional or International portion of the tournament
